A self-check · two minutes · both columns honest

Is Profenor a fit for your store? Check for yourself.

No scores and no feature war. Below is what Profenor actually does and what it deliberately does not, so you can check it against your own needs and decide in a couple of minutes. If the second table describes you, we are not your tool — and we would rather you know that before you send us anything.

What Profenor does

If these are the jobs you need done, you are who this is built for: a US-based Shopify seller on Shopify Payments, settling in US dollars.

You need…What you get
To know why the bank deposit never matches the sales reportYESThis is the core job. Fees, refunds, chargebacks, sales tax held, payout timing — each on its own line, tied to your bank deposit. In the private beta we do it by hand from two files you send; the first week is free.
Expenses categorized with the IRS code section behind themYESEvery expense carries the IRS code section and publication behind its category. You can see the approach today in our free deduction checker — 153 e-commerce expenses, each with the section cited.
A P&L your CPA can actually work fromYESClean, IRS-tagged books handed to your CPA instead of a shoebox. Profenor replaces the tools and the legwork, not your CPA's judgment.
Per-order profit after feesYESWhat each order actually left behind after processing fees. Try the arithmetic now in the free per-order profit calculator.
Early warning on out-of-state sales-tax exposureYES50-state economic-nexus thresholds tracked against your sales. The free 50-state nexus checker is the same logic, usable today.
Your data, exportable, no lock-inYESExport everything any day — your P&L and every table as CSV — and take it to QuickBooks, Xero, or anywhere. Bootstrapped, no exit clock.

What Profenor does not do

Every one of these is deliberate. If you need them, a different tool will serve you better, and the free tools above still work for you either way.

You need…The honest answer
Amazon, Etsy, eBay or other channelsNOProfenor is Shopify-native and Shopify-only. Multi-channel selling is out of scope, on purpose — depth on one platform over breadth on five.
A store outside the US, or multi-currencyNOUS-based businesses settling in US dollars only. Multi-currency arithmetic changes in ways we cannot stand behind yet, and we will not hand you a document we cannot defend.
A primary gateway other than Shopify PaymentsNOT YETThe reconciliation is built on Shopify Payments payout data. Other gateways are not covered today, and we would rather say so than guess at your fees.
Real-time inventory and SKU-level COGS syncNOProfenor does not track live inventory. Product costs are set up with you at launch and used for profit math — there is no automated inventory system behind it.
Sales-tax filingNOWe warn you when exposure builds; we do not calculate returns or file them. Pair Profenor with a filing service for that job.
A done-for-you accounting teamNOProfenor is software plus a founder who answers, not a staffed accounting service. If you want your books done for you by a team, that category exists and it costs accordingly.
An app you can log into todayNOT YETThe app is in private beta and not open. During the beta the reconciliation is done by hand from two files, which is why it is free. App access begins at public launch.
One claim we will make against the field, dated and checkable: in June 2026 we reviewed 18 leading tools a Shopify seller might use for bookkeeping, per-order profit, or sales tax — from live pricing and feature pages of each. None of them cites the IRS code section behind a single transaction categorization. Profenor does, on every expense.

METHOD AND DATE: 18 tools reviewed June 2026 across four jobs — per-order profit, full P&L, sales-tax nexus tracking, and IRS code-section citations — using each vendor's own published pricing and feature pages. Prices and features change; check any vendor's page yourself before deciding. We re-verify our own comparison figures before publishing them — the cost figures on the homepage comparison carry their own check dates.

If the first table is what you need

Start with the free week: you send one Shopify payouts export and the matching bank deposit line, and a person reconciles it and tells you where every dollar went. No card, no signup, no app install.
